The Northern Lights are in the northern hemisphere from September through April but are only visible when the sky is clear and free of clouds. Like many of natural wonders, the Northern Lights are ephemeral – they may be visible, they may appear for a bit and then be gone (it is not a TV show that you can just turn on and off). But it is worth the patience which is much required. Because they are a winter event, you need to be prepared to wait outside while looking for them. It is best to dress very warmly, in layers, with good footwear, gloves, hats and whatever else will make you comfortable while youListen to your guide describe the science behind this the marvelous natural event.

When solar wind collides with charged particles in the high atmosphere, it manifests in radiating green and faint red lights. Watch the colors shift, intensify, and spin for hours on end as you observe, mesmerized by their shifting patterns await patiently this truly outstanding event. For the best photos we recommend using a tripod.

This tour is ideal for nature lovers of all kinds. We take you along the south coast of Iceland, one of the country´s most scenic regions, as far as Vík, a charming village surrounded by high beautiful bird cliffs. South Iceland is special for that it is one of the flattest regions on the island.

Because of that, most of all grain farming in Iceland is done there. The high mountains to the North, shield the area from the harshest winds from the North. Among the stops on this tour are the gorgeous Seljalandsfoss and Skogarfoss waterfalls.

Seljalandsfoss is part of the Seljalandsá river. What makes Seljalandsfoss so famous and interesting is that you can walk behind it. We recommend you bring either a raincoat or a waterproof coat along if you want to walk behind it.

Skogafoss, another famous Icelandic waterfall was used in the films: Thor: The Dark World and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

We will also stop at Reynisfjara black sand beach, with the Reynisdrangar rock formations and columnar basalt. It is one of the most spetacular beaches in Iceland but can be dangerous, and we kindly ask our guests no to go too close to the ocean and go by guidelines.

Additionally we will stop by Solheimajokull glacier and walk up to a small lake which has formed in front of the retreating glacier.
